Cities@Heart at the ESC Spring Summit

The ESC Spring Summit is an annual strategic meeting organised by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), bringing together leaders from National Cardiac Societies and key figures across the cardiovascular community. Held at the European Heart House in Sophia Antipolis, France, the summit serves as a platform where ideas are translated into concrete strategies aimed at improving cardiovascular health across Europe and beyond. The 2026 meeting on 5 and 6 March explored how a global cardiovascular health plan can respond to challenges such as obesity, population ageing, and environmental factors, reinforcing the summit’s role as a forum where strategic thinking evolves into practical action.

Through focused discussions, debates, and collaborative workshops, participants examined major challenges facing cardiovascular medicine and public health. These exchanges help shape policies, research priorities, and clinical practices, ensuring that the ESC and its partners remain aligned with emerging needs in healthcare.

Cities@Heart was recognised as a crucial project in the field of cardiovascular health on the international stage of the Spring Summit. It was featured on the panel for European Research projects and mentioned during the plenary session by Prof. Pim van der Harst as an ambitious project aiming to transform urban cardiovascular health.
